This morning, I got up around 8 or so, and then took a nap before Will called me around 11:10. We talked and, I hope, made improvements in our relationship. I then started cleaning up my bedroom, moving my bed and the metal thing acting as my dresser into corners. Then I gathered all the clothing and put it in the hamper. At that point, I decided that I should at least make the frame for my large dresser.
Ikea makes nice, cheap furniture, but you must assemble it. This isn't a big problem. The problem is that it packages things far too densly. My dresser should have come in 3, maybe even 4 boxes, not two. I am not weak - I regularly lift boxes of records, often weighing over 40 pounds. I've been told by many people that I am strong, people that would know. But I had a great deal of trouble moving both boxes from my living room to my bedroom. I pity the people [mostly women] who are not as strong as I am who cannot move the boxes on their own. It is, in a word, insulting. I am insulted that Ikea didn't consider the weight of the boxes or consider that people of average strength might want to, or need to move them alone. Unfortunately, I feel that if I complain to Ikea, my words will fall on deaf ears. I will get nothing more than a form letter in response. I have not, nor will I ever be apathetic. My actions, however, are because, in my experience, everyone else is apathetic to my concerns. All the time.
I finished the frame for the dresser, not putting the back on it because I don't think it adds anything structurally to the dresser. Furthermore, adding the back makes it harder to hold while moving it. I then made the two small drawers and put my underpants and my tights/nylons in the drawers. After that, I came into the living room and straightened the place up. I made some food and straightened up the kitchen, unloading my purchases from Target. I also put some hooks in my walls to organize my vanity/sink area

Sounds like you are making great progress with your new furniture. It has got to be nice to have a place to put things.
