Overcast and Productive

Putting bumper stickers on someone else's car is illegal, and apparently called 'tagging'. So be aware, but hot damn, wouldn't that be fun.

Today, I woke up really early, but then I went back to sleep. I was really upset about a bunch of things, notably the SC decision and the way the media and the nation are reacting to the VA Tech thing. I got to work at 9am and worked on my last two projects and made some calander appointments to prod me to work and do certain things - well, just to meet with my library contractors in the break room during their lunch, then an appointment to get back to work, and then an appointment to call a colleague at 2:15.

At about 11:35, I got some print outs and went into the dark break room to talk with K&R during their lunch. I decided to do that because the chairs in there are actually kind of comfy [for short periods of time] so I feel more comfortable.
I generally enjoy talking with everyone, but I like talking with those two because we seem to be from more similar backgrounds than the other people I've met here. K is a couple of years older and finishing a masters in the humanities, and R is Jolene's age and is about to start library school. Both are very liberal and I feel comfortable sharing my real opinions with them. We got to talking about vehicles, and I mentioned something about how I need a new one, which shifted the conversation to SUVs. K mentioned that his parents just got an SUV and he refuses to ride in it.

Afterwards, I went back to work and got a lot done on my last two projects. I then called L at 2:15 and learned that we will need to have K&R take some days off. I waited through email conversations, did some other work, then took a break to pace, think, and mess with my hair nervously. After the final word, I went and talked to K&R. R took it rather well - reminding me, for some reason, of Jolene. I later learned that, according to the Aztec astrological calander, they come from compatible signs, Jolene being a Cane and R being a Jaguar - Will is also a Jaguar. I am a Crocodile, and apparently, also very compatible with Jaguars, but not necessarily Canes*.

Anyway, I talked with K&R about a few other things, and then let them straighten up the map area before heading home, for the day, the weekend, the next few days for them, and the next two weeks before I might see them again. I hope they carry through with their confirmations of emailing me, but I'm not exactly holding my breath. I actually stayed at work until 6:30, deciding that I didn't want to work out, after what turned out to be a productive, but kind of stressed day. I drove to Kaiser and picked up my drugs after work. I also smiled at an adorable little girl who seemed to have pink eye.

I drove home and relaxed before bed. I had some spinakopita with some marinara sauce that may or may not have been too old - I stopped eating it after a while though. I went to bed around 10 or so.

* No, I don't live my life based on astrology, but I think it is interesting. Lots of educated people are so opinionated against astrology these days, making it impossible to discuss it at all without someone thinking I'm an idiot. Heaven forbid I even consider thinking about ancient mythology when everyone already knows that I'm very adament about there not being anything supernatural in the universe. Heaven forbid I use colloquial language referring to a place that I know is extremely likely to not exist. Heaven forbid I suggest that humans don't know everything about the universe. Heaven forbid I get a little pissed off about something now and then.
